Put down your needles and sharpen your pencils!!
Limerick Contest begins today!

Picture
Whether or not you have a drop of IRISH blood in you is no matter. My son came home having to write a limerick for school and I caught the bug! My attempt is to the left because I could be her!

I've got a stack of green (fabric that is!) here that will go to the most creative, hysterical limerick about sewing, quilting or crafting.

Limerick Rules:
5 lines.  A, A, B, B, A. Rhythm pattern (google limerick if you need some ideas on how to write one!) It has to be about quilting or sewing.

******Give it a go and win some GREEN!!***********************************************

POST YOUR LIMERICK IN COMMENTS by 3/16. DRAWING MARCH 17th OF COURSE!!

There once was a quilt oh my,
She loved to quilt the sky,
One evening night,
She took a fright,
And watched a comet blaze on by.

I can say it without any guilt
Whether it’s patchwork or foundation pieced
My fabric addiction has been wholly unleashed
So I’ll brag of all I have built

While pressing a seam it would seem
A good idea to use steam
If your hands tend to linger
You may burn a finger
Then “son of b****” you will scream!

Then decided to add a small border
To the quilt shop she went
All her money was spent
And now she is featured on Hoarders

Well… every color and hue.
Slippery and soft

I met an old woman who sews
Fabric snips fell around her toes
Heaps of fabric and spools of thread
Ideas danced, in her cute little head
Until the piles were as high, as her nose

The first thing that you need to know
With patterns piling up so high
And fabric reaches to the sky
You cannot sew when your thread is low

There once was a horse named Mabel,
Who liked to make quilts in her stable.
But the work of this talented mare -
All the rage and the talk of the fair -
Was in fact stitched by mice she paid under the table!

When they found out Mabel was a fake,
She said, "Oh let them eat cake!"
'Though they're not what they "seam",
My quilts give sweet dreams,
And my mice get good cheese for their take.

Now after Mabel went to jail,
Baab Blacksheep tried to post her bail.
He proclaimed, "She's an entrepreneur!"
Cried the Judge, "That's a bunch of manure!"
"Ten years and a whack on the tail!"

When Mabel was at last released,
She married a great big wildebeest.
They opened up their very own stall,
And named it "All Quilters Great & Small",
Selling fabric, notions, and fusible fleece.

If you think this is a fantastic story,
Just remember there's no lack of glory -
After all is said and done -
In tales stitched together just for fun.
Mixing animals in with your allegory!
