Friends in sew placesĀ

Warmth, unity, creativity and fun are why I love this quilting community. I know many of you share the same feeling and it's what keeps you up sewing into the wee hours, or linger at a quilty friend's house a bit longer or choose to buy fabric over food....unless maybe that food happens to be salted dark chocolate caramels....

Time stops when you are in the groove. Everything else melts away when you are doing what you love. This is our gift we give to each other and to ourselves. I truly appreciate my quilter/artist friends I have known for many years and the excitement of making new friends who share the same passion for our craft. My very dear mother in law, Carolie Hensley just celebrated her 30th year of being in business as The Cotton Patch and she threw a casual open party that took place at the shop and filled up the parking lot with a big tent, lots of cake, funny stories and peals of laughter. For 30 years, she has been surrounded by great customers who have become friends, iconic quilters such as Alex Anderson, Laura Nownes, Diana McClun, Freddy Moran, Mary Mashuta and Roberta Horton who are also great friends...But most importantly, she has, as many shop owners do, create a place where we can meet, create and be. So whether your community is growing at your local shop, your online bee, or right in your neighborhood - I applaud you. Keep up the good work and enjoy.

In keeping with this theme, I wanted to thank Laura Nownes, one of the most kind and talented quilters in our industry who is committed to sharing her knowledge, expertise and design sense with any seasoned or aspiring quilter out there. In her joint blog with Jennifer Rounds, Darra Williamson and Pati Fried  at See How We Sew she has highlighted me this week and I am giving away another fat pack of Studio Stash to one of their lucky readers who also stop by to comment below about their favorite of the four color stories. Check out her best selling books and DVD at C&T Publishing   or  online class at Craftsy!  They are AWESOME!

As I prepare to relocate from the New England to New Mexico I have become so aware of my internal color palette changing...looking at your fabric has allowed my internal changes to be manifest, especially your fourth collection of sun- inspired hues! Stunning colors !!!

I live in New England and right now I love the colors I am seeing as I walk or drive. The burgundies and golds with the browns, greens, and greys look super to me. I chose the turquoise colorway of Studio Stash.

I am so glad that you are back to fabric designing! I still have bits of your earlier designs, and cherish them -- so fun to use. Of the Studio Collection -- wow! -- how to choose a favorite?? But I guess turquoise calls out a bit louder -- or -- emerald?

I love the emerald colorway. Green in one of my favorite colors, maybe because I am a redhead and greens look great on me and I love to cuddle in green quilts.

Jennifer, this fabric line is absolutely gorgeous. I love modern quilt design and any of your fabrics would look amazing in a modern quilt. I'm very drawn to the citrus and emerald but often find that I'm most creative when I'm forced to work with a colour that isn't my natural first choice. Needless to say, I would love to win. Thanks for the opportunity!

Choosing one colour way is a near impossible task. My instincts always lead me to the turquoise because of my love of water. But the other colours are fabulous too and play very nicely together.
